World Gin Day London is a little misleading as a title. In fact, the annual event is not just one day, but in fact a four-day festival including everything from DIY gin masterclasses, to specially created cocktail menus. So, no matter what your gin-based taste, there’ll be an event across the four days for you. Here’s our pick for each day of the festival.
Fords Gin and 68 & Boston
Kicking off World Gin Day in style is 68 & Boston, the intimate Soho wine and cocktail bar that’s a firm Jackal favourite. The bar has paired up with Fords Gin to create three different gin martinis, and they’ll also be giving away 300 oysters to pair with your chosen cocktail on a first come, first served basis. Race you there.

Foxhole gin and cheese pairing workshop
Once you’ve had your fill of free oysters and martinis, the logical next step is the London Cheesemongers, for a dedicated gin and cheese pairing workshop. The shop’s paired up with Foxhole spirits, whose gin is crafted in a way that changes the flavour from batch to batch. The session will offer the chance to taste a range of Foxhole gins, each paired with the cheese that best complements the distinctive character yielded by each particular year’s distillation.

The Botanist Gin at Rosewood London
Nothing says summer like a sun-baked terrace, G&T in hand. So, in honour of World Gin Day, The Botanist Gin has taken that template and teamed up with Holborn hotel Rosewood London to transform the hotel’s Edwardian courtyard into a beautiful summer greenhouse, complete with walls of foliage, terrariums and a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by the hand-sourced herbs and flowers that are distilled in the Scottish gin. For a slice of summer idyll in the centre of town, this is the place to make for.

First up is a masterclass on the history of gin, and then the chance to brew and bottle your own unique blend to take home with you, all under the expert guidance of Bols Geneva. The Lost Pizza Boys will also be on hand to provide you with a cocktail, a pizza of your choice, and £6 Bols Genever cocktails all night thereafter.

Plymouth Gin botanical lab
Aficionados will know that crafting any gin is a fine balancing act. Now, you can try your hand at creating your own distillation with Plymouth Gin. In a series of dedicated laboratories taking place across London on Saturday for World Gin Day, the country’s oldest gin distillery is challenging participants to create a spirit as close to Plymouth Gin as possible, using the seven botanicals that the company is known to use. Even better, once you’ve created and bottled your brew, you can take it home to enjoy.
