Where to shop: the five boutiques on our style radar right now

Count: 1

Finding great clothes is all about knowing where to look

We get it: shopping isn’t easy. But we also think that’s because you’re not looking in the right places. We’re asked a lot here at The Jackal where men should be shop, and it’s a very important question. Because once you’ve found the right place, with a carefully curated selection of brands and well-considered stock, suddenly shopping becomes all the more enjoyable. Here’s the five shops – physical and digital – that are on our radar at the moment.

where we shop

Trouva

A site that gathers together independent brands and boutiques under one stylish digital roof, Trouva is where we head when we want to discover great new labels. What’s more, the stock is curated by the clever owners of cool shops from all over the UK, plus occasionally further afield. You can shop by boutique or brand while on the site, making for a unique browsing experience. Our favourite discoveries so far through Trouva are Goodbond, an ethical clothing and lifestyle shop on Brick Lane, and Coban, a contemporary menswear boutique in Stoke Newington.

Trunk Clothiers

As contemporary boutiques go, we’re especial fans of Trunk Clothiers here at The Jackal. Situated on London’s Chiltern Street, it was founded in 2010 by Swedish ex-financier Mats Klingberg, with the aim of providing a platform for contemporary menswear brands from the UK, Italy, Sweden and beyond. While they stock cool up-and-coming European labels like De Bonne Facture and The Gigi, we also like their own-brand label Trunk for pared-back essentials and slick accessories.

Oi Polloi

With shops in Manchester and London, as well as their online boutique, Oi Polloi is a shop for the smart-dressing man in the know. Founded in 2002 by Steve Sanderson and Nigel Lawson, it stocks a tight edit of the coolest menswear brands around. It’s team Jackal’s go-to for picking up Armor-Lux Breton tees, chore jackets from Universal Works, and knits from Maison Kitsuné. Excitingly, they also collaborate with well-known brands on Oi Polloi exclusives, so there’s stuff in here you won’t find anywhere else.

East Dane

With big names, under-the-radar labels, and just plain cool brands on their books, East Dane is one of those hidden in plain sight sites that offers a lot of bang for its buck. Yes, it’s owned by Amazon, but that doesn’t dim its style credentials; the aforementioned brands are mixed in with solid style advice, well-considered edits and practical tips for making the most of your clothes. Our top picks include cool sneakers from Finnish label Karhu and raw denim from Naked & Famous.
