1. Mr P. shearling collar aviator jacket
Every smart-dressing man needs a zip-through blouson jacket in his wardrobe. This aviator style from Mr P. would make a low-key, yet undeniably stylish, addition to yours. The jacket’s detachable shearling collar and oversized pockets give extra winter style points, while the Italian checked fabric is sharply understated. Great for wearing with a chunky rollneck, or layering under a thick overcoat on super chilly days.

2. Reiss ‘Carlton’ double breasted overcoat
We’ve been enjoying Reiss’s contributions to men’s style this season. This ‘Carlton’ coat is deceptively well cut for a high street brand, with its peaked lapels, sharp double breasted cut and slim fit silhouette. It comes in a soft oatmeal hue, too, which makes a refreshing counter to winter’s black and navy. Keep thing light and bright with stone corduroy trousers, brown brogues and a cream cashmere jumper.

Officine Générale peacoat
A winter wardrobe staple, the peacoat is a piece that’ll last you season after season. This style from Officine Générale was inspired by a classic reefer jacket, remade in substantial Italian wool, with generous pockets and a detachable sheepskin collar. Its simple square cut is also more streamlined than the original reefer, keeping things sleek and understated. Pair with a wine-hued rollneck (navy and burgundy are a great colour combination), high waisted grey trousers and a pair of chunky black boots. Winter ready.

Tilak Svalbard jacket
On days when the British winter is being especially grim, nothing but a proper anorak will do. Luckily, the garment has had quite a renaissance this season, meaning that looking cool and staying warm (and watertight) is more than possible. This ‘Svalbard’ jacket from Czech outdoor experts Tilak was designed with performance in mind. Made in Northern Moravia by seamstresses using tried and tested manufacturing techniques, the jacket was crafted with Aquaban technology and heat reflective properties to keep you warm and dry. One to keep close to hand until April next year, then.

Barbour ‘Burghley’ long wax coat
The Barbour coat is a British style essential – chances are you’ve got one in your wardrobe already. However, this ‘Burghley’ style – a relaunched of one of the brand’s heritage styles – is one we’ve especially got our eye on. The longer length silhouette feels just right for now, while the wax coated outer will keep the rain at bay. Although originally meant for tramping through damp countryside, it’ll work equally well for tramping the streets of London, too. Wear with low-key trainers, cuffed denim and a rollneck.
