John Boyega is the first man to front Jo Malone London
Born and raised in Peckham the young film star is bringing his own sense of style, charisma and vibrancy to the London-based perfumers
John Boyega might be most famous right now as the main man in the next wave Star Wars trilogy, but he’s just got a new leading role: as the first male ambassador of scent house Jo Malone London – and we’ve got a first look below. Today, the actor has been unveiled as the brand’s debut ‘London Gent’, which will see him become the face (or should that be neck?) of the men’s offering from the British-based perfumer over the coming months.
And there’s no denying he’s a solid choice for the role.
Born in Peckham, he’s the kind of guy who defines those quintessentially ‘gentlemanly’ qualities. Forget stuffy images of tweedy men in bowler hats holding newspapers under their arms, today’s gentlemen channel the qualities we see in every public appearance and press junket with Boyega: a man who’s not only supremely stylish and successful, but also superbly genuine – as you’ll see in his video interview below. So when he says his favourite fragrance in the collection is Jo Malone London Bronze Wood & Leather (£120 for 100ml, jomalone.co.uk), a warm and woody scent freshened with zingy notes of juniper, vetiver and grapefruit, it’s the sort of recommendation that you should probably check out.
Does this mean a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker fragrance collab later this year? Watch this space.
