The best daywear watches under £2,000

Style and substance for a modest sum? Yes.

There are days when a fellow who writes about watches on a regular basis considers launching a concierge service to cater for the constant flow of men who come knocking for some friendly watch-buying advice. Where’s my cut…? And all that. Well, think of The Jackal as said service – happy to oblige.

This week, I took a call from an old friend with a couple of big ones in his back pocket, looking for a smart watch (in the respectable sense) that is becoming of a man of status, can be worn every day, and doesn’t reek of excess.

Naturally, this got me thinking. Here then is an edit of watches that fit the bill. And yes, there’s some quartz in there. But that’s ok, as I shall explain.
